General Function:  Responsible for overall operation of Coating Machine.  Will be responsible for monitoring the process and performing duties at each station including loading raw materials, unloading laminate from the machine, performing laminate quality checks in the coating lab and other related activities.

Responsibilities: 

• Promote and support behaviors consistent with our Safety Principles.
• Support implementation of “UPM Step Change in Quality” program initiatives for Dixon. 
• Load / unload raw material / laminate reels on / off the winders and recording reel transactions into Production IT (Raflow) system.  
• Closely monitor and test product quality and make corrective actions to the process parameters together with the coating team leader.  
• Report machine breakdowns / faults, raw material faults and other process disturbances to coating team leader.
• Clean machine during web breaks / breakdowns, web break recovery and general housekeeping.  
• Ensure continual coating process, which is critical in achieving coater efficiency and quality targets.
• Support the Leans Six Sigma Program by serving on project teams relevant to the coating process.  
• Responsible for the quality of the work: to know quality, service, and food safety requirements and to be able to meet them; follow agreed SOP’s. Control the outcome of the work and be capable of immediate corrective actions. Inform Team Leader of situations where normal SOP’s and adjustments do not bring the process outcome back into control.
• Other tasks as specified by the Quality Management System.    
• Perform all duties in full compliance of all laws, safety and environmental regulations, and in a manner consistent with company policies and procedures.  
• Perform all duties consistent with the Roles and Responsibilities defined in the company’s OHS Standards and Guidelines.  

Qualifications:  Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to High School education and 1-2 years work experience in an industrial setting.  Previous work experience in paper/paper converting industry or working with web-handling equipment desired.  Understanding of maintenance requirements of coating machines desired.  Must have well-developed problem solving skills, including the ability and willingness to apply a systematic approach to the process.  Must have good communication skills, and the ability to relate well with a wide range of constituents.  Must be able to function well as a member of a team.
